Coherence and Identity

This is the heart of the identity question: why do entities tend to cohere?

And, why is coherence tentative in relative time? If, fundamentally, the prevailing ‘natural’ tendency is towards incoherence, is coherence the anti-disorder, a stubborn counterforce that tries to impose order, and therefore crucial for our indeterminate evolution?
