Kap Kirwok's (Kap) Biography

Kap Kirwok, known as Kap, is a multifaceted individual who seamlessly balances his roles as an aspiring writer, poet, strategist, and senior leader within various organizations. His professional journey has seen him contribute to institutions like the Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC), the International Centre for Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE), the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), Kenya Airways (KQ) Group, Heifer International (HI), Trade and Market East Africa (TMEA), Kenya Trade Remedies Agency (KETRA), Kaizen, a Tetra Tech Company, National Health Insurance Fund and Social Health Authority.

Kap is also recognized for his insightful commentary in the mainstream media. For over five years, he was a Sunday Columnist for the Standard Newspaper in Kenya, and for two years, a Saturday Columnist for the Star Newspaper.

Kap has won several awards for his writing, including the Jonathan G. Orr Award for Excellence in Research and Writing, a first-place prize for an essay contest on multiculturalism sponsored by the International Group Services, Inc., and open to colleagues and universities in the United States. He also won the prestigious 2013 Jomo Kenyatta Prize for Literature, awarded for his children’s book ‘I Blame the Sky’.

Born in Mt. Elgon Sub-County, Kenya, Kap has traveled to more than 70 countries and worked and lived in the USA, The Netherlands, The Philippines, Zambia, and Tanzania.

Kap did his formal education and training in the following institutions and organizations: Chemoge Primary School, Kapsokwony Secondary School, Nyeri High School, University of Nairobi, Management for Development Foundation (The Netherlands), International Agricultural Center (The Netherlands), Eastern University (USA), University of Cape Town (South Africa), Wharton Business School (USA) and Boeing Corporation (USA). He claims that his informal, self-learning is infinitely superior to his formal learning!
